Obama Ties Taxes too Christian Beliefs

(You can check out the video of the Obama speech at the bottom of the page "Obama says Jesus wants taxes raised" this is the best video I could find, if you just ignore the interuptions by the guy who made the video who is a bit of a nut, he hates Romney and wants to vote Gringrich... You can see what I meen. Just remember I don't agree with the nut job who made this video)
I have heard this more and more from the left. They twist and change the way the bible written to fit their own agenda and quite frankly it makes me a little sick. Obviously Obama wants a couple of things from these remarks. For one he wants to weaken the tight republican hold on Christians and make them feel bad for their beliefs. He is trying to make us think that taxes are a donation to the poor. This is absolutely ridiculous. How much of our tax dollars do you think goes to the poor?
Well when you look at charities what is one thing that good charities normaly boast about? Well the one thing I normaly see is the amount of money out of every dollar you give them is actually helping those in need. So how much of our tax dollar ends up in the hands of those in need?
Well I did a little research and what I found was that this information is extremely hard to get. I could find some figure but most were old and outdated. What I finally found was a paper on the 2008 historical table for that fiscal year (check out the info here). This really isn’t the number I was looking for but considering the best data I saw was done In the 2004 census I decided to roll with this.
A grand total of $117 billion was spent on social assistance programs like food stamps, family support AFDC, SSI, welfare, child tax credit, and refunds of earned income tax for those needing assistance. Ok but how much of our dollar went too welfare?
Well this paper went on too reason it out and I won’t give you all the specifics here but the final total from every dollar you fork over to the government? 7.5 cents. That’s it. Now tell me if you saw that being boasted by any charity what would you do? I know I would go that’s nuts and find another charity that was going to put my dollar to better use, but the left expects us to think of taxes as a charity???? Every dollar I give to the government that I don’t have to is one more dollar I can’t be giving to my church or the the charity of my choice, both of which will put my dollar to a lot better use.
Not only that but it’s nuts to try and make Christians feel like they need to be giving more. How much do Christians give to charity? Well I researched this as well out  of sheer curiosity. Well I found a few numbers. The first said that in a study performed in 2000 (yes it’s outdated) religious people (go to church every week) are 5% more likely to give to charity than secular people (check out the paper here). Also from that same paper I noticed that conservatives give considerably more to charity, about 17% more likely to give to charity than liberals, just saying.
Now this might sound harsh but I really believe that Liberals would rather not waste the energy giving to charity but instead just let the government take care of it but what people have to understand is that the more responsibilities you give government the bigger it gets and the larger it gets, just like all the big corporations the liberals hate so much, it gets out of control and extremely inefficient. I would much rather hand my money over to a organization that is open with how the spend there money and how it is helping people who need it most and from my experience the government is neither of those things.
